Steve Jobs の手裏剣騒動がネットを賑わしている。

この騒動を報じた The Loop に記事に「憤って」、John Moltz が皮肉たっぷりの記事を書いている。

ジャーナリスト倫理違反

正直言ってこの記事を書いた Jim Dalrymple［The Loop］に怒り心頭に発している。アップルの記事を書く際にやってはならないルールに違反しているからだ。1930 年代の記者たちがルーズベルト大統領の病気に触れてはならず、1960 年代にはケネディ大統領の火遊びに触れるのが御法度だったように、アップルの記事を書くことでメシを食っているものは Jobs が忍者であることを記事にしてはならないのだ。長い間われわれはそうしてきた。

Frankly, I’m a little steamed at Jim Dalrymple. What he’s done in reporting this is violate an unwritten rule of Apple coverage. Just as reporters in the 1930s helped cover up Roosevelt’s illness and in the 1960′s helped cover up Kennedy’s philandering, we in the Apple press community help cover up the fact that Jobs is a ninja. We’ve been doing it for years.

語ってはならないこと

最初に学んでおくべきことのひとつ、それは「Tim Cook のオナラについて語ってはならず、Jobs が忍者であることも語ってはならない」ということだ。

It’s one of the first things you learn! “Don’t talk about Tim Cook’s farting and don’t talk about Jobs being a ninja.”

黒のタートルネック

記事にした Jim の援護をすれば、書かずにいるにはあまりに自明のことだからだ。誰かが Jobs の「黒のタートルネック」をからかうたびに笑ったものだ。タートルネックなんかじゃないのに・・・。全身を包むボディスーツで、その上にジーンズをはいているのだ。スーパーマンがズボンをはいて上半身はスーパーマンのままなのに、みんながそれに目をつぶっているのに似ている。

In Jim’s defense, it’s stupid because it’s so obvious. I laugh every time someone makes a joke about his “black turtleneck” because it’s so obvious it’s not a turtleneck. It’s a full body suit he just wears jeans over. It’s like Superman just put on pants and everyone continued to ignore the fact that from the waist up he’s still Superman.

これからも隠蔽し続ける

我々はみなアップルのプレスリストに名を連ねているエリートだ。なのに Jim が記事にしたのはその名誉を汚す行為だ。我がサイト Crazy Apple Rumors Site では、この話を７月に起きたときから知っていた。しかし我々は善良な記者がなすべきこと、すなわち隠蔽してきたのだ。

But shame on Jim for not mentioning he was going to do this on the elite Apple press email list we all belong to. We here at Crazy Apple Rumors Site have known of this incident since it happened back in July. But we did what good reporters do: we covered it up.
