９月イベントで発表される iPod touch の新価格はこうだ！

John Gruber が９月のアップルイベントで発表される新 iPod touch の価格を予想している。

ただしいささか手が込んでいて、９月１５日に発表される Zune HD について書かれた記事の中でそれとなくほのめかしているのだ。

Zune HD が iPod Touch を目標にしていることは明らかだ。最大の欠点は Zune HD がメディアプレーヤでありウェブブラウザに過ぎないという点だ。アプリもゲームもない。iPod Touch の現在の価格にくらべて Zune HD の価格設定は悪くないように思える。しかしアップルが来月発表しようとしているカメラ搭載の新モデルに比べるとたいしたことはない。新 iPod Touch は 16/32/64 GB モデルがそれぞれ 199/299/399 ドルだ。

Clearly, the Zune HD is going to be compared to the iPod Touch. Its biggest shortcoming is that it’s just a media player and web browser; no apps, no games. The Zune HD prices look good compared to today’s iPod Touches, but not so much compared to the new camera-equipped ones Apple is set to announce next month (16/32/64 GB for $199/299/399).

Steve Jobs が Coldplay のコンサートに

手術後に復帰した Steve Jobs にはもっぱらプレスリリースでしかお目にかかれない。

その Jobs が Coldplay のコンサートツアーに現われたらしい。

一連のニュースの元になったのが、ツアーを追っかけていた Roadie #42 の報告だ。

月曜夜のマウンテンビュー Shoreline Amphitheatre の様子をつぎのように書いている。

白状すると、今夜ボクにとって意味があったのは Steve Jobs がそこにいたということだけだ。ボクは根っからのアップルファン。いまの仕事をするのに Macbook Pro（それ以前は Powerbook）がないなんて想像もできない。こんなツールを造り出し、ボクらが使うことを可能にしてくれたのは Steve Jobs のビジョンがあったればこそだ。

Steve が更衣室の前で Dave Holmes とおしゃべりしているのを見かけて、あこがれの大スターを前にしたティーンエイジャーみたいな気分になってしまった。あつかましくも彼に声をかけられるように苦いエスプレッソをグイと飲みこんだ。カフェインと安っぽいファンボーイの気分に助けられてなんとか口にできたのは「どうもありがとう」というひとことだけ。自分がバカみたい（？）なことに気づき、早々に彼の前から立ち去った。

８月にジョブズが出るスペシャルイベント？

Steve Jobs が正式に職場復帰したというニュースが流れたばかりだが、Jobs が登場するスペシャルイベントが８月にあるというウワサを LOOPRumors が伝えている。

LOOPRumors の信頼できる情報によると、Steve Jobs が８月に開催されるスペシャルイベントで初めて公開の場に姿を現すという。肝臓移植手術後初めて公に復帰を飾ることになる。

この時期にリニューアルされそうなのは iPod がらみだ。iPod touch や iPod nano にカメラ機能が追加されるというのが最近のもっぱらのウワサだ。

米国時間月曜日に迫った WWDC で発表される iPhone 新モデルの名前は「iPhone Video」だそうだ。しかも即日入手可能だという。

月曜日の WWDC 2009 でアップルは iPhone Video を発表する。といってもみんなビックリしないよね。Walt Mossberg もいってるし、みんなそう思ってる。それに Palm Pre にも備えなきゃいけないし。

Apple will announce the iPhone Video at WWDC 2009 this coming Monday. That won’t be a surprise though, as many are expecting it, Walt Mossberg said it, and Apple needs to counteract the Palm Pre launch.

でもこれは知らないだろう。iPhone Video は即日入手可能らしいんだ。そう、次世代モデルの iPhone Video を月曜には手に入れることができるんだ。ただし、アップルストアが近くにあり、売り切れる前に行ければの話だけど・・・

What you don’t know, though, is that Apple will likely make the iPhone Video available the same day. Yes, you will be able to pick up the next version of the iPhone on Monday, if you get to an Apple Store before they sell out.

で、新しい iPhone Video の具体的内容はどうか。まず、8GB、16GB、32GB の三つのモデルがある。4GB モデルも製造中だが月曜には間に合わない。発売されるのもアップルストアじゃない。これまでいわれていたオートフォーカスカメラ、コンパスなどなどのウワサは全部ほんとだ。これまでの背面カメラだけでなく前面カメラもついてくるところがスゴい。自分自身は撮影できるけれど iChat ビデオはまだだ。それでもスゴいことだ。スピードアップしたプロセッサもこれまたスゴい。RAM を増やす話は聞こえてこないけれどそうかもしれない。

What will we see in the new iPhone Video? For starters, it will be available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB models. A 4GB model is in the works as well, but it won’t be available on Monday, and when it is released, it won’t be sold in Apple Stores. All the things youﾕve been seeing about an auto-focus camera, compass, etc. are all true. A camera on front along with a camera on back, that is the real deal – although it may just be for you to take video of yourself, and not for iChat video communication (although that would freaking rock.) A faster processor is also a lock (although I have heard nothing on additional RAM, it would make sense.)

いくつかのソースに当ったところでは、iPhone Video が月曜に発表されるのは間違いなさそうだ。当初７月発売予定だったので数は限られているらしい。ということは７月発売予定を前倒しにしたので数は十分でないということだ。いずれは十分な数が準備されるだろうけれど。

Talking to a few sources, it seems that the stars are in alignment for iPhone Video to launch this Monday. My understanding is that availability will be limited, because the plan was to launch in July. This means that Apple doesn’t have all the phones available now that they would have had in July for a launch – but you can expect regular replenishments of product.

しかし Wozniak がいうには「６か月の間同じことをいい続けている」として昨日のウォールストリートジャーナルの記事に不快感を示した。「まるで何か新しいことを喋ったかのように書いている。自分の発言をどう引用されたのかさえ分らない。そもそもインタビューですらなかったのだから・・・」

But Wozniak has been “saying the same thing for six months” and took umbrage with yesterday’s WSJ.com story on the subject. “They printed [it] like I spoke it as new news,” he says. “I’m not sure how I was quoted. It wasn’t an interview.”
