しかし Wozniak がいうには「６か月の間同じことをいい続けている」として昨日のウォールストリートジャーナルの記事に不快感を示した。「まるで何か新しいことを喋ったかのように書いている。自分の発言をどう引用されたのかさえ分らない。そもそもインタビューですらなかったのだから・・・」

現行の LCD スクリーンが OLED に変わることは歓迎できる。iPhoneで OLED スクリーンを使えばバッテリーの寿命がのびると考えられるからだ。しかしこのウワサの信憑性の判断はむずかしい。確かに OLED スクリーンは優れているが比較的高価であり、現行価格を維持したまま、あるいは下げてまで移行するのは困難と考える。新しい OLED スクリーンの解像度が 640 x 960 になるかどうかについてはソースは触れていない。［注：これまでのものと互換性を保つなら、この解像度になると思われる。］
An OLED display would be a welcome change from the LCD screen the current iPhone utilizes. The main benefit of using an OLED screen used on the iPhone is a possible increase in battery life. Its difficult to judge the accuracy of this rumor; it would certainly be an excellent choice for the display, however OLED screens are relatively expensive at this time and my prove difficult to transition to while lowering or even maintaining the iPhone’s current price point. The source did not detail if the new OLED screen would come with a 640 x 960 resolution. (note: this resolution is what would be expected to maintain backwards compatibility with applications currently deployed)

The camera will work with the GPS, compass, orientation sensor and Google maps to identify what building or location you have taken a picture of. We at first had difficulties believing this ability. However, such a “feature” is technically possible. If the next generation iPhone was to contain a compass then all of the components necessary to determine the actually plane in space for an image taken. The GPS would be used to determine the physical location of the device. The compass would be used to determine the direction the camera was facing. And the orientation sensor would be used to determine the orientation of the camera relative to the gravity. Additionally the focal length and focus of the camera could even assist is determining the distance of any focused objects in the picture. In other words, not only would the device know where you are, but it could determine how you are tilting it and hence it would know EXACTLY where in space your picture was composed. According to our source, Apple will use this information to introduce several groundbreaking features. For example, if you were to take a picture of the Staples Center in Los Angeles, you will be provided with a prompt directing you to information about the building, address, and/or area. This information will include sources such as wikipedia. This seems like quite an amazing service; and a little hard to believe, however while the complexity of such a service may be unrealistic, such is actually feasible with the sensors onboard the next generation iPhone.

「iPhone クロマティック」と「iPhone ユニボディ」は薄くてカッコいいデザインだ。アップルなら出してくれそうな気がする。個人的にはこのレンダリング画像は大変よくできていると思う。次世代 iPhone もぜひこんな出来であって欲しい。
The new supposed iPhone unibody and iPhone nano design does look like something we can expect from Apple, offering a thinner and sleeker look. I personally tjink these renderings look good and of course keeping my fingers crossed that the third version of the iPhone will look this good.

ピグマリオンは伝説のキプロス王。みずから刻んだ石像と恋に落ち、神に祈って命を与えられた像を、妻ガラテアとしたことで知られている。
画面は彼の祈りが通じて石像が命を得た瞬間。彼女の膝から下はまだ石のままである。神の奇跡に感動してか、美しき伴侶の誕生に歓喜してか、仰ぎ見るガラテアをかき抱くピグマリオンの、畏敬に満ちた愛情表現は圧巻。接吻絵画は数あれど、かくも純真無垢に愛をむさぼる男性表現は例がない。写真のようにリアルな画風から印象派の天敵とされた、フランス近代アカデミズムの重鎮ジェローム入魂の代表作である。
この伝説を言語学者ヒギンズ博士と花売り娘のイライザに置き換えたのが英国近代演劇の巨匠バーナード・ショー作の「ピグマリオン」で、大ヒット映画「マイ・フェア・レディ」はこの戯曲を原案にしている。
理想の伴侶を夫が「創造」するという点では、男権主義の色濃い伝説とはいえ、ジェローム描くピグマリオンの接吻は、崇拝にも似た恋慕の情で見る者の胸を熱くせずにはおかない。純愛が燃えさかる炎と化す、接吻絵画、名場面中の名場面である。

［New Orleans street musician Grandpa Elliott］
ストリートミュージシャンはこんなにもすばらしいのか。盲目のグランパ・エリオット、オランダの Clarence Bekker、南アフリカの Sinamuva が特にすばらしいと思った。
それにしてもこんなすてきなビデオを作ったのはいったい誰？
Huffington Post によると、このビデオを制作したのは PlayingforChange.com。アフリカ AIDS 基金などに資するためだという。

つぎつぎに登場するすばらしいストリートミュージシャンはオランダ、フランス、ブラジル、モスクワ、南アフリカ、コンゴにまで及んでいる。ニューオーリンズからは［Grandpa Elliott の他に］Washboard Chaz や Roberto Luti も登場。YouTube のビデオを見た人はすでに 900 万人を超えているという。このプロジェクトの着想について、監督の Jonathan Walls が昨年ここで語っている。つぎのプロジェクトについては Mike Ragogna がここで述べている。PlayingforChange は間もなく世界市場で音楽を売って、その収益を音楽学校の基金にする予定。
The dizzying array of performers includes street musicians as far flung as the Netherlands, France, Brazil, Moscow, South Africa and the Congo. Washboard Chaz and Roberto Luti also represent in New Orleans. Nine million viewers have seen the video on YouTube already, and Director Jonathan Walls described the inception of the project HERE on HuffPo last spring. Mike Ragogna described the next wave HERE, PlayingforChange will soon publish and promote music to a global market with a portion of the profits funding music schools.
Grandpa Elliott は Playing for Change のバンドと一緒に Jay Leno の The Tonight Show にも出演したが、それを済ませてまた定位置の Royal Street に戻り、お祭りの時期に間に合った。もし彼に会えたら、チップをはずんで「If I Were a Rich Man」をリクエストするといい。これはもう大したものだ。
After wrapping up a tour with the Playing for Change band including a set on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Grandpa Elliott could be back in his regular Royal Street spot in time for our festival season.
